Andrew Wyeth Biography: Because he was a sickly child his parents decided to educate him at home. He was thus home-schooled in every subject including art. This was perhaps young Andrews greatest stroke of good fortune for his father Newell Convers Wyeth was one of America's greatest illustrators of the day. He became competent in the use of both watercolors and tempera, which became the mediums of most of his best loved paintings.
