Robert William Vonnoh Biography: Unlike many other Boston artists Vonnoh did not become a member of the American painting community at Giverny. Vonnoh preferred to live and to paint at Grez. When he returned to the states, after a brief stay in Boston, he took a teaching post at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He supplemented his income by doing portraits. Among his students were Robert Henri, William Glackens and Maxfield Parrish.
