Alfred Sisley Biography: Although he studied and painted mostly in France Alfred Sisley was not French, he was English. During his lifetime Sisley endured great poverty sometimes even trading his paintings for food. He finally achieved a large degree of recognition but it was shortly before he passed away at the age of 60.
Died: January 29, 1899
