Maurice Brazil Prendergast Biography: Although he was born in Canada, he grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He gained his knowledge of watercolors working for a firm painting showcards.
He was influenced by Symbolism and Art Nouveau as well as the artists Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard. He belonged to a group of artists known as the Eight.
After 1914 he lived in New York City where he did some
of his most memorable watercolors in Central Park.
