Juan Gris Biography: He started his education in engineering but changed to art. His early art education from an academic landscape and genre painter drove him towards the avant garde movement in art. In 1906 he moved to Paris to evade mandatory military service. Now penniless and a man without a country he was fortunate to enlist the aid of his fellow countryman Pablo Picasso who introduced him ot Georges Braque. It would take him until 1912 to fully embrace Cubism. He died young from chronic renal failure.
Died: May 11, 1927
