By 1912 he produced what is considered by many the quintessential work of the Cubist movement Nude Descending a Staircase. The painting depicts movement through the use of overlapping cubist figures and caused a furor at the 1913 New York Armory Show. He produced very little from 1915 thru 1923 when he unveiled his masterpiece The Large Glass.
