Robert Delaunay Biography: The earliest influence on his palette and style was the Pointillist Georges Seurat. The name "Orphism" has been attached to his work which by 1912 was totally abstract. After military service from 1907 to 1908 he made contact with the Cubists. He painted his first Eiffel Tower in 1909. He lived in Portugal and Spain from 1914 to 1920. He was married to the artist Sonia Delaunay.
Died: October 25, 1941
