Pieter de Hooch Biography: He worked for a cloth merchant as a painter. He married in Delft in 1654 then move to Amsterdam in 1661 where he spent the rest of his life. Early in his career he painted mostly soldiers and guardhouses but during his time in Delft he was influenced by Vermeer and painted mostly genre scenes.
Died: 1683
