Aelbert Cuyp Biography: Cuyp ws born into a property owning family of Dutch painters. He furthered his affluence by marrying a wealthy widow. His subject matter ranged from landscapes to portriture. The subjects of his landscapes were usually idyllic bucolic scenes of rivers and wetlands with sun-drenched skies and grazing cattle. It was also not uncommon for his subject matter to be sailing vessels. He lived his entire life in Dordrecht.
