David Crosby, son of bandleader Bob Crosby and nephew of legendary crooner Bing Crosby, was a member of the Byrds, Graham Nash was with the Hollies and Stephen Stills and Neil Young were both members of the Buffalo Springfield. Their first album release Deja Vu was an instant success and the tour intended to promote the album included an appearance at Woodstock. The group had a volatile existence splitting up shortly after the success of their first album and immediately before the release of their second effort Four Way Street. They reuntied in 1974 for a summer stadium tour and released their third straight blockbuster hit album So Far. They reformed again in 1977 this time without Neil Young and released CSN which turned into yet another hit. After the release of Daylight Again David Crosby found himself in a slew of drug related legal problems. After his release from prison the group reunited as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to release the album American Dream, in 1988. |
