Umberto Boccioni Biography: In 1888 Umberto's family moved to Padua and then in 1897 to Catania, Sicily. In 1901 he moved to Rome where he met Severini and studied with Balla. After a stay in Paris and a trip to Russia he settled in Padua. Seeking relief from the constraints of traditional Italian art he moved to Milan. Here he met Romolo Romani and Previati. He became a leading exponent of the futurist movement in art. However, there was not a lot of interest in his work in Italy.
Died: August 17, 1917
